Understanding your Terminal

Welcome to your card machine from Worldpay. Before going too far it is important to understand the setup and functionality of your terminal, which will depend on the type of terminal you have. Worldpay currently offers 4 terminal types which vary in their method of connectivity.

Counter Top Terminals

Desktop Terminal

Worldpay Desktop terminals are ideal for being situated at your till in an environment where your customers pay at the counter. The desktop terminal is hard wired to a power and network supply and we recommend that you connect your terminal to both phone and broadband connections for optimum performance.

Mobile Terminals

Mobile Wi-Fi Terminal

Mobile Wi-Fi Terminals connect using your business’ Wi-Fi and via its 3G SIM. These touch screen terminals are ideal for in-store or on the go, and switch seamlessly making it simple wherever you are taking payments. A Bluetooth base is also available for this terminal from our accessory website. You will be able to identify if your terminal is a Mobile Wi-Fi terminal as it will state Move/5000 above the screen.

Wi-Fi Terminal

Wi-Fi terminals use your business' W-Fi network to get online to process card payments. These terminals operate wherever you can connect to your Wi-Fi network. You will be able to identify if your terminal is a Wi-Fi terminal if the Wi-Fi icon is displayed at the top of the terminal screen or if the code on the underside of terminal begins with IWL-258.

Bluetooth Terminal

Portable Bluetooth Terminals use Bluetooth to connect to their base unit, which in turn is connected to either your broadband or phone line via a wired connection. You will be able to identify if your terminal is a portable Bluetooth terminal if a "B" is displayed at the top of the terminal screen or if the code on the underside of terminal begins with IWL-252.

Terminal Processes

Whilst the hardware and connectivity of terminals may vary, the processes that you can carry out on your terminal are the same across all terminal types.
