Understanding your Terminal

Welcome to your card machine from Worldpay. Before going too far it is important to understand the setup and functionality of your terminal, which will depend on the type of terminal you have. Worldpay currently offers 4 terminal types which vary in their method of connectivity.

Wi-Fi Terminal

Wi-Fi terminals use your business' W-Fi network to get online to process card payments. You will be able to identify if your terminal is a Wi-Fi terminal if the Wi-Fi icon is displayed at the top of the terminal screen or if the code on the underside of terminal begins with IWL-258.

If you have just received a new terminal please consult our Wi-Fi terminal setup guide to get you started.

Mobile Terminal

Mobile Terminals contain a SIM card and connect to a network in much the same way as your mobile phone. You will be able to identify if your terminal is a Mobile terminal if a phone icon is displayed at the top of the terminal screen or if the code on the underside of terminal begins with IWL-251.

If you have just received a new terminal please consult our Mobile terminal setup guide to get you started.

Portable Bluetooth Terminal

Portable Bluetooth Terminals use Bluetooth to connect to their base unit, which in turn is connected to either your broadband or phone line via a wired connection. You will be able to identify if your terminal is a portable Bluetooth terminal if a "B" is displayed at the top of the terminal screen or if the code on the underside of terminal begins with IWL-252.

If you have just received a new terminal please consult our Portable Bluetooth terminal setup guide to get you started.

Desktop Terminal

Worldpay Desktop terminals differ from the other terminal types in that they have separate keypads for merchants and customers. Both terminals are hard wired to a power and network supply and we recommend that you connect your terminal to both phone and broadband connections for optimum performance.

If you have just received a new terminal please consult our Desktop terminal setup guide to get you started.

Terminal Processes

Whilst the hardware and connectivity of terminals may vary, the processes that you can carry out on your terminal are the same across all terminal types.
